BIM4PV Project Aims to Create a Comprehensive Digital Twin (BIM) Platform for Collaborative Design, Operation, and Maintenance of Photovoltaic Systems
The BIM4PV project is focused on designing a comprehensive virtual platform for digital twins (Building Information Modeling – BIM) that facilitates the collaborative design, operation, and maintenance of photovoltaic systems.
January 29, 2024
With a user-centric approach, BIM4PV intends for spaces to not only generate energy but to fully encompass the lifecycle of photovoltaic systems.
A critical goal of BIM4PV is to address the current lack of standards and interoperability among tools and data sources, which complicates the exchange of information among various stakeholders involved in the design and operation of photovoltaic systems.
Thus, the system will adhere to ISO data standards and advanced methods of interoperability, information, and knowledge management. It will be an open system where tools and data sources are not confined to specific providers, allowing for the free exchange of resources. This open approach will enable the selection and combination of tools and data sources best suited to address specific issues.
Ultimately, BIM4PV aims to overcome the challenges of standardization and interoperability among tools by proposing a platform based on openBIM. This platform will offer services ranging from customer acquisition to the monitoring and maintenance of photovoltaic systems, promoting efficiency and collaboration throughout the photovoltaic lifecycle.
This project is a collaborative effort involving Bettergy, Imventa, CLENAR (Cluster de la Energía de AragónClenar), Endef, Enerclic, and the Smart City Cluster.
Funded by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism as part of the AEI support program, with collaboration from the European Union through Next Generation EU funds, under the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan.
