BioEnergyTraces advances the digitisation of the biomass sector for SMEs

Designed to improve the efficiency and sustainability of SMEs, the system developed makes it possible to trace biomass from its origin to its final destination, automate logistical and administrative operations, and define key indicators that facilitate decision-making. This digital solution seeks to replace analogue processes with accessible technological tools, adapted to the context of companies with low digital maturity.

Among the main conclusions of the project, the need for active involvement of the user companies for an effective adoption of the system is identified as a challenge. At the same time, the alignment with the new European Renewable Energy Directive (RED-III), which reinforces the relevance of software in an increasingly demanding regulatory context, is highlighted as a strategic opportunity.

The consortium proposes a replicable model that can contribute to modernising the bioenergy sector in rural environments, boosting its competitiveness in the framework of the ecological and digital transition.

The project has been funded by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism of the Government of Spain, through the Call for Aid to Innovative Business Groups (AEI) 2024, with a budget of 246,990 euros, of which 193,007 euros have been subsidised.
