The Smart City Cluster and the Fuengirola City Council will increase the smart city model in the municipality
The mayor of Fuengirola (Málaga), Ana Mula, and the president of the Smart City Cluster, Mariano Barroso, have signed this morning a collaboration agreement to undertake in the municipality actions that allow increasing the implementation of the smart city model, understood as more Efficient, sustainable and comfortable for citizens.

As a basis for joint work, the agreement includes the contribution of solutions in the fields of tourism, accessibility, mobility, energy efficiency, the environment and citizen management platforms, the result of knowledge and innovation generated by the members of the cluster .
At the same time, the agreement includes, among other aspects, promoting innovation in products, processes and services associated with smart urban infrastructures, strengthening bidirectional communication between the City Council and citizens, launching pilot projects for new technologies and processes smart city, revalue the natural and cultural attractions of the municipality through technological solutions and promote training activities and organization of events related to smart urban infrastructure.
The mayor, Ana Mula, stressed that “making Fuengirola a benchmark in urban innovation is one of our main objectives for this municipal mandate so that the city has the most avant-garde elements and systems of greater modernity and sustainable urban development” .
In this sense, the councilor has assured that the agreement signed today will serve for the municipality to “increase its endowments in the process of transformation into a smart city and become, in the not too distant future, international reference of what is a smart city. ”
For his part, the president of the Smart City Cluster, Mariano Barroso, highlighted “the strong commitment that the City of Fuengirola has been making to build an increasingly smart city, with better and more efficient endowments for residents in urban spaces and with a remarkable commitment to improve the well-being and quality of life of its neighbors with innovations and models of avant-garde cities ”.
In this sense, Mariano Barroso has dedicated words of praise to Mayor Ana Mula and her municipal government team “for having the vision and determination to create a specific council for the smart city, aware of the strategic role that currently plays in the optimal development of cities”. “To create smart cities, smart politicians and authorities are needed and it is clear that this is the case of Fuengirola,” said Barroso.
