The Board of Directors of Smart City Cluster has elected as its new president the Almeria businessman Martín Carrillo (photo), who until now has held the position of secretary general of the entity. The changeover follows the voluntary resignation of the former president, Miguel Ángel Romero, as his current professional responsibilities prevent him from dedicating the necessary time to the position of president of the Cluster. Romero wished ‘the best for the future of the association’ and expressed his conviction that ‘the new president will continue to consolidate the organisation as a national benchmark for smart cities’. For his part, Carrillo thanked Romero for the ‘enormous effort’ he has made to reconcile his professional duties, was pleased that he will continue as a member of the Board of Directors and called on all members to attend the next General Assembly, to be held on 27 June.
Brief profile
Martín Carrillo, born in Mojácar (Almería), founded the company Setesur in 1988 and for almost four decades has been working in the development of territories at a national level, at the head of a company with offices in Madrid, Murcia and Antas (Almería). In January 2019, he became a member of the board of Smart City Cluster and has been the general secretary of the entity during the terms of office of the three presidents who have preceded him. Currently, he also collaborates with other groups in the telecommunications sector.
