Malaga, July 2025. Smart City Cluster brought together its associated entities last Friday at Malaga TechPark on the occasion of its General Assembly 2025. It was the first session chaired by Martín Carrillo since his appointment as president, in which the main milestones of the last year were addressed and the work plan for the coming year was approved.

The work plan for 2025 focuses on a multi-sectoral openness that reinforces the transversal nature of Smart City Cluster and the concept of city intelligences. This strategic line brings together different forms of innovation -technological, environmental, institutional, economic and social- with the common goal of actively transforming territories and improving life in cities.

Martín Carrillo thanked the members for their trust and pointed out the importance of continuing to build a useful space in which each entity finds real opportunities for growth and collaboration. He reinforced the idea that Smart City Cluster is a collective tool at the service of a shared vision: to make innovation a lever for the improvement of urban environments.

The Assembly had the institutional backing of the Andalusian Regional Government and Malaga City Council, represented respectively by Nieves Valenzuela, Director General for the Promotion of Innovation, and Antonio Quirós, Director General for Urban Innovation and Digitalisation. Their participation showed the harmony of the public administrations with the work promoted by Smart City Cluster in the urban innovation ecosystem.

Felipe Romera, CEO of Málaga TechPark, hosted the session and highlighted the role of entities such as Smart City Cluster as the backbone of innovation, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises. He also recalled that it was in this same building where, eleven years ago, the founding act of Smart City Cluster was signed.

During the meeting, the CEO of Smart City Cluster, Daniel González Bootello, highlighted advances such as the approval of the criminal compliance management system, recognised by IBEX 35 entities; the activation of new working groups in areas such as air quality and European projects; and the strengthening of the ecosystem with new incorporations and the continuity of alliances with territories such as Rota, Linares, Las Rozas or Puerto Real.

Likewise, the institutional positioning of Smart City Cluster was reinforced through its presidency in the National Cluster Federation and its recent incorporation to the CDTI Advisory Council.

The day before the Assembly included an informal networking session on a terrace in the centre of Malaga, where members exchanged experiences in a relaxed atmosphere.

With this Assembly, Smart City Cluster reaffirms its role as a platform for effective collaboration, aimed at applying shared intelligence and specialised knowledge to the great challenges facing the cities of the present and the future.
