The DEGRASCPI-LCA project focuses on researching a carbon footprint calculation methodology, in coordination with the Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodology. This integration is pivotal in designing and constructing a digital twin platform that enables the calculation of the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) – measuring the carbon footprint throughout the asset’s lifespan.

This initiative will provide the necessary tools, at a time when sustainability is of global importance, to better assess and minimize the environmental impacts of construction, industrial processes, and other human activities.

A key technological goal of the project is to facilitate the creation of a unified digital twin. This advancement will allow local SMEs to work with open models and achieve a more accurate assessment of their products using the tool, taking into account the transportation from industry to construction site. This predictive digital twin will also feature a complete 3D representation of the asset and its components, integrating essential information for operational and strategic management via the BIM model.

The project development is a collaborative effort among MSI Digital Builders, IMMERSIA Data Visualization, AFM Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, and the Smart City Cluster. It is funded by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism as part of the AEI support program, with collaboration from the European Union through Next Generation EU funds, under the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan.
