This project, funded by the h2020 program of the european commission, is an initiative that promotes the recovery of the nutrients present in the dumping of slaughterhouses (highly polluting) for the manufacture of agronomic products.

In a cascade process, after the treatment of the wastewater the nitrates will be extracted, and an organic fertilizer will be generated. Likewise, water2return contemplates obtaining two biostimulant products, one from the sludge generated in the treatment of wastewater by means of an innovative fermentation process and another from the algal biomass obtained through a treatment with algae.

In addition, energy recovery will be possible through a biomethanization process. Water2return fosters synergies between the food industry and sustainable agriculture and proposes new business models to open up market opportunities for the european business fabric, with special attention to smes.
